Dr Jesse Beumer

Bariatric and General Surgeon

This is Jesse. Our professional and empathetic Bariatric and General Surgeon.

Driven by a genuine desire to help people achieve life-changing health improvements and greater wellbeing, bariatric surgery is a natural fit for Jesse. Yet his surgical skills extend beyond bariatrics, with Jesse holding over six years of experience in both private and public practice. During this time, Jesse has consulted as an Upper GI and General Surgeon and held a fellowship position in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic surgery.

Jesse is a big believer in a precise, evidence-based approach. He continually refines his skills and stays up to date with the latest advancements in techniques and technology, ensuring he offers his patients the safest and most suitable surgical and non-surgical options.

Currently head of the Upper GI Surgery unit at the Lyell McEwin Hospital, Jesse is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Australia and New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society and the Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand Hepatic Pancreatic and Biliary Association. He is also the proud supervisor of Surgical Registrar Training for General Surgeons Australia.

In terms of his ideal day off work, Jesse says it would start with a morning coffee before hitting the road and escaping to a remote beach on the Yorke Peninsula. There, he’d spend the afternoon with family and friends before ending it with a BBQ on the deck. Given his love of the outdoors, it’s no surprise that Jesse’s also into surfing, nature walks and watching his kids play weekend sports. But you might be surprised to learn that Jesse’s scared of heights and has absolutely no tolerance for chilli!?!
