Dr Balalis is a surgical endoscopist. He has had significant training in endoscopic techniques, including advanced procedures. Dr Balalis has trained with internationally recognised surgeons and gastroenterologists. He is a fully credentialled endoscopist with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA).
Dr Balalis performs gastroscopy and colonoscopy, as well as other endoscopic procedures, including stents and management of post-surgical complications. He also provides endoscopic weight-loss options, which may be suitable for some patients. He is also one of only a handful of endoscopists around Australia to have performed a per oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) procedure for achalasia, and is continuing to improve his technique.
Dr Balalis is passionate about pre-operative assessment with gastroscopy, and has published international guidelines in this area. This is part of the complete surgical care that is so important for a successful result, particularly for weight-loss operations.
Dr Balalis is able to see urgent endoscopy referrals, and also provides an open access endoscopy service. To find out more about available options, or to book a consultation, please contact us today.
